Bodies on the Edge: Life and Death in Migration, organised by Thanatic Ethics project, took place in late April 2022 in Oxford, UK. My first in-person conference since 2019, the experience was invigorating and frequently affecting. Given the topic under discussion, approached from a range of disciplinary perspectives, it could not be otherwise. The level of interest, care and support offered by colleagues to one another over our three, intensely scheduled days together, was both unusual and necessary.
Feedback received for this presentation will aid me on my way, as I continue thinking, researching and writing about ‘Little Amal’ and the gamification of empathy in migration narratives
